i am abandoning my (ahem) fruitless search for fruit buns. instead i am switching to tarts! so far the best tart i have been able to locate in the ashfield municipality is the pear and ricotta tart from the summer hill patisserie. any readers who wish to nominate a tart which i should sample, please comment.
i am also looking to find out if there are many old style milk bars left in the ashfield municipality ... this one is in summer hill
any tips? please leave a comment...

for what it's worth, i think that your search should begin and end with the pear tart!
well the pear and ricotta tart is worthy! i have deemed it a nine star tart. (i guess the lack of chocolate prevents it from achieving a perfect score. hint?)
My recollection of "Harris" Milk Bar located several shops along Liverpool road from Hercules street; during the depression 1936
Delcicous milk shake, with flavouring , malt and ice cream
included, topped with nut meg and two straws, all for fourence -perhaps five cents in metrics

shocking as this may be, i don't think chocolate is a necessary condition for the scoring of a perfect ten
